I was very excited about Avatar until I read Roger Ebert's review:"The Na'vi survive on this planet by knowing it well, living in harmony with nature, and being wise about the creatures they share with. In this and countless other ways they resemble Native Americans. Like them, they tame another species to carry them around--not horses, but graceful flying dragon-like creatures."That raised big flags. Here we go again, I thought. I haven't seen the film yet. I'm trying to figure out how to have a meaningful discussion about my problems with the movie with my daughter - who saw it and loved it.
